New Mexico now has a license plate celebrating the rich history of acequias in our state!
With the help of New Mexico Representatives Ambrose Castellano and Kristina Ortez, the Commission secured the approval of a specialized acequia license plate during the 2023 legislative session.
Locals designed the specialty plate.
The NMAC commissioned artwork and taglines from locals across the state. After serious consideration, the Commission selected the following:

Get ready to treat yourself to a new license plate in the new year! The plate is ready for production and will be available for purchase beginning January 1, 2024 at an MVD dealer near you.
*Proceeds from each license plate sale will be directed toward the Acequia and Community Ditch Fund (ACDF) which is used for attorneys and experts for acequias to advocate for common elements of water rights and to ensure that acequias have a fair and equitable defense in adjudication.
